The revised final design will be presented in March. Billboards will be put up outside on the academy grounds with photographs of the models taken from different angles to illustrate the proposed design. In addition, models and floor plans will be put on show in the foyer of the Rietveld building, together with some of the material finishes which will be used in the new building.
The final design will be further explained at a presentation in the Gym, where, of course, there will be the chance to ask questions. The event will take place either at the end of March, or at the beginning of April. These questions and answers will also be collated in written form and published as a third edition of the Q&A. Earlier editions can be seen at Internalaffairs
As announced earlier, there has been a delay in the project in the past few months due to a change of plan. The reason was our desire to do everything in our power to preserve the cultural and historical value of the Rietveld building. This wil be achieved by completely separating the new building from the existing building. We trust that everyone can see the importance of this. We are convinced the new building will now be even better than it was.
In the period from March to May 2015 we will get ready for the final decisions on the construction of the new building. The participation council (MR) acts on behalf of the wider organisation and has an important role in this process. The MR will meet several times to discuss relevant issues. These meetings will be open to the public and will be advertised on the notice board in the foyer.
For some time now construction work has been taking place on the first floor of the Benthem & Crouwel building. This is not for nothing: we are building new offices for the administrative departments. In May most staff offices will move to that floor. Only facility management and finances will stay in the Rietveld building. Later these will be moved to the second floor. The spaces that will become available in the Rietveld building will be used for educational purposes. In the first instance, they will be used for critiques and final exams.
