Fedlev building summer tips
When we have nice weather you can open up the folding doors. You can roll the work tables outside. You could also work on the rooftop, and bring a table with you via the elevator.
How do you slide open the folding doors? Firstly, you check if the folding doors are free at the inside of the building, meaning there is no material or work directly next to the glass (this is supposed to be the case, there is no material allowed to be stored next to the folding doors). In case a fellow student has placed material here, you can carefully move the materials. If the folding doors are free, you can contact the concierge of the Rietveld building. They will open up the doors for you.
Please make sure that cars and trucks (suppliers, garbage disposal service) can always have access to the location. When you are ready, please return everything you have brought outside to its rightful place, and leave the outside area tidy. Keep and eye on your belongings and potentially borrowed tools from the Rietveld.

Good to know when you work outside
In the roof there are extremely strong DEMU fastening anchors that you can attach your work to via screws. There are also DEMU fastening anchors in the tiles on the roof.
When you work under the roof of the building you can use cable reels and compressed air of the Assembly hall (via the ceiling, no cables on the ground).
There are small and large lockers available. Please ask the concierges how they work.
About the gardens
The patio (the courtyard) is net yet finished and will be supplied with plants in the foreseeable future. There will be two gardens, designed by Jan Konings.
Compliments for the Fedlev building
The Fedlev building is one of the best ten new buildings in Amsterdam according to ARCAM (Architectuurcentrum Amsterdam). Our third academy building was nominated for the Amsterdamse Architectuurprijs 2019 (A.A.P. 2019) together with Hotel Jakarta, Metro Oostlijn, Karspelhof, Rivierstaete, Pondok aan de Westlandgracht, Drie Generatiehuis, Hyperion Lyceum, Noord/Zuidlijn Amsterdam and QO Amsterdam.
At the award ceremony of the A.A.P. 2019 we were kept on the edge of our seats until the very last moment. Both the expert jury and the public jury expressed their great enthusiasm and appreciation for the Fedlev building. In fact, the expert jury mentioned the final choice for the winner was discussed at length, and had to be made between two favourites: the Fedlev building and… the Noord/Zuidlijn (Benthem Crouwel Architects in collaboration with Metro and Tram – City of Amsterdam). The latter won.
We are very proud to know that the Fedlev building has made such an outstanding impression and has been in a tight race with a building project as impressive and extensive as the Noord/Zuidlijn.
